Sooo uhh what's up man what's the deal?
This is more of an attempt to escape than anything else. When I was a kid, the internet was so exciting because of the promises it held. I could be myself, truly and genuinely, without fear of judgement from people irl. I could connect with likeminded people all over the world, anonymously, so that I’m judged by the content of my character alone. I could contribute to a community, and support other people's contributions too, learning and grow with them. This promise was not the reality of the past 10 or so years that I’ve been online. At this point, I’ve tied most of my online identity to my irl self, through Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. Any creative endeavours I think about are impossible because of the box I’ve put myself in (reputation, career), one that breaking out of feels insurmountable. I need a fucking break from being formal online. And I really need the internet to be fun again.
Not too sure what I'll put on here yet...
